Ornamental horticulture is the science and art of growing ornamental plants.  It includes plant conservation, landscape restoration, soil management, landscape and garden design, construction, and maintenance, and arboriculture.  Gaugamela is working to engineer new varieties of flowers and other plants for the consumer market.
Algae biofuels are an alternative to liquid fossil fuels, using algae as its source of energy-rich oils.  Like fossil fuel, algae fuel releases CO2 when burnt, but unlike fossil fuel, algae fuel and other biofuels only release CO2 recently removed from the atmosphere via photosynthesis as the algae or plant grew.  Gaugamela is working to engineer algae that produces more energy-rich oils in less time.
Urban agriculture is the practice of cultivating, processing and distributing food in an urban environment. The concept of urban agriculture has received significant attention and growing popularity in recent years, as installations grow to meet the needs of ever-developing urban life. Gaugamela is exploring new ways to sustainably implement agriculture initiatives in densely populated urban environments.
